Seeking a Systems Engineer with a strong working knowledge of Linux/Unix systems to work in a rapid development and release environment where quick analysis and creative problem solving abilities are a priority. The qualified professional will be responsible for the deployment, support, and stability of all the client's custom designed business applications. The ideal candidate will have a strategic mindset, good communication skills and the ability to collaborate well with others.
Responsibilities:
- Performs application upgrades and updates during Change Control windows
- Work with all departments to troubleshoot application issues
- Analyze issue and event trends and provide insight to allow continuous improvement
- Work closely with IT and non-IT associates to create, develop, and maintain service level agreements
- Create and maintain up-to-date documentation for all supported systems
- Support “on call” in a rotating schedule and put in extra hours as needed
Qualifications:
- 5 - 7 years of experience in a closely related role
- Strong problem solving skills
- Strong initiative and ability to work with moderate supervision
- Ability to stay current with emerging technologies
- Ability to quickly learn and support new applications and technologies
- Proven ability to manage several small to mid-sized projects
- Install and configure Linux/UNIX/Windows systems and software
- Strong working knowledge of Unix/Linux/Windows Operating systems
- Implement policies, procedures, and technologies to ensure Linux/UNIX/Windows system security through secure system
access, monitoring, control, and routine security evaluations.
- Perform standard configuration, management, and maintenance tasks for related file systems, input/output systems,
networking, clustering, storage, and applications.
- Anticipate, mitigate, identify, troubleshoot, and resolve hardware and software problems on all Linux/UNIX/Windows systems.
- Monitor, test, and tune system performance
- Recommend and execute modifications to Linux/UNIX/Windows systems in order to improve efficiency, reliability, and
performance.
- Create Linux/UNIX/Windows scripts as needed.
- Working knowledge of networking concepts: TCP/IP, LAN/WAN, DHCP, DNS, FTP, HTTP
- Working knowledge of Anti-Virus, Monitoring Solutions, Suns/HP/DELL Hardware
