Thank you notes are a great way to exhibit your star qualities. The note will demonstrate your follow up skills and good manners. And, it once again puts your name in front of the interviewer.
- Make a habit of sending thank you notes to anyone who assists you in your job search.
- You may type or handwrite your note, depending on your penmanship and the formality of the interview. Use your best judgment.
- Address the interviewer with a salutation and their last name. You dont want to appear casual too early in the process.
- Mention something positive about the company or the working environment. Express an interest in getting the position.
- Refer to something you discussed in the interview.
- Keep the note short and friendly. Use it to thank them, not to further sell yourself.
- Write the note immediately after your interview and mail it within 24 hours of the meeting.
- Send a note even if you feel the interview didnt go well. Often candidates are considered for positions other than those they interviewed for originally.
