Freelance Women’s Associate Woven Designer

Our client is a contemporary brand focusing on Women’s apparel products. They are seeking a dynamic and talented Freelance Women’s Associate Woven Designer to join the team based in New York City.

Salary/ Hourly Rate:

$30/hr – $37/hr Depending on experience 

Position Overview:

This Freelance Women’s Associate Woven Designer role requires a creative individual with a keen eye for design, particularly in woven structured designs, and a solid understanding of the fashion industry. The ideal candidate will have previous PLM experience and 2 – 4 years of professional design experience.

Responsibilities of the Freelance Women’s Associate Woven Designer:

• Collaborate with the design team to create innovative and trend-setting designs for women’s structured woven collections.
• Focus on bottoms design, ensuring the creation of high-quality, stylish, and functional pieces.
• Utilize PLM systems to manage and track the development of designs from concept through production.
• Conduct market research and trend analysis to inform design decisions and ensure the brand remains competitive.
• Prepare detailed design sketches, technical drawings, and specifications.
• Participate in fittings and provide constructive feedback to ensure the best fit and quality.
• Work closely with cross-functional teams, including product development, merchandising, and marketing.
• Maintain a strong understanding of the brand’s aesthetic and customer preferences.

Required Experience/Skills for the Freelance Women’s Associate Woven Designer:

• 2 – 4 years of experience in fashion design, preferably with a focus on structured women’s woven garments.
• Proven experience with PLM systems.
• Strong sketching and technical drawing skills.
• Excellent understanding of garment construction, fabric, and trims.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.
• Must be able to work in the NYC office every day.

Preferred Experience/Skills for the Freelance Women’s Associate Woven Designer:

• Experience in contemporary fashion design.
• Knowledge of current fashion trends and market dynamics.
• Ability to work independently and take initiative.

Education Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design or a related field is required.
