Our client, a rapidly growing and extremely reputable retail company has an opening for an Accounting Clerk, whose main responsibility would be to support the daily functions of the department. Our client offer a dynamic, team-oriented work space, great benefits, and future career advancement opportunities. This is a long term, temporary to permanent position, based in the Bergen County, New Jersey area.

Salary/Hourly Rate:
 $14 – $18/hr (temp) | $40K – $45K

Position Overview:
 The Accounting Clerk tasks will consist of matching invoices to purchase orders/ vouchers, data entry, and assisting with Accounts Payable (A/P) and Accounts Receivable (A/R).

Responsibilities of the Accounting Clerk: 

  • Assist Accounts Payable; A/P invoice matching filing, vendor invoices, and disbursement filing
  • Submit financial figures to journals and ledgers
  • Classify documents that require knowledge in determining proper classification of accounting codes and expenditure codes
  • Assist Accounts Receivable; help with collection of past due balance, process daily invoices/credit, and apply cash receipt
  • Prepare statements and reports that require utilization of a number of sources
  • Oversee company-wide accounting; help with G/L account reconciliation, month-end closing, and other ad hoc projects
  • Mend discrepancies by checking all possible sources of disagreement, reconstructing probable actions, and recognizing the effect on other accounts
  • Prepare correction documents as required

Qualifications for the Accounting Clerk:

  • Data entry, document management, file creation and previous records experience required
  • Solid understanding of check processing
  • Proficiency in billing
  • Ability to multitask and communicate well with individuals
  • Accounts payable experience
  • Command of Microsoft Excel (pivot tables & v-look ups)
  • Microsoft Word experience highly desired
  • This is a temporary to permanent position

Education Requirements:

  • AA or BS/BA in Accounting or related field preferred
