Our client is the 4th largest freight forwarder in the world with their Atlanta branch employing just under 300 people and 15000 employed globally. They are looking to add an Accounting Supervisor to their team.

Salary/Hourly Rate:

$95k – $100k

Position Overview:

The Accounting Supervisor will oversee the daily functions of the Accounting department while mentoring and developing all employees to be their best. The Accounting Supervisor will manage 8 people consisting of 3 in AP, 4 in AR, and 1 in Billing/Invoicing.

Responsibilities of the Accounting Supervisor:

  • Perform accounts receivables responsibilities including ensuring that the branch AR is kept above a 95% with less than 2% of the AR over 45 days
  • Work with Operations to trend and eliminate bad debt and reserve / BNP
  • Ensure credits are researched and cleared in as early as 30 days but no later than 60 days
  • Confirm that journal vouchers are reviewed for accuracy and integrity daily
  • Review and communicate open inter-company balances (AJAX) weekly to Operations for timely resolution
  • Communicate rate/billing issues to management to ensure timely resolution and exceptional customer service
  • Approve OCL requests in the absence of DM making sure to adhere to CHQ credit policy
  • Manage and process all BCRs with the managers input
  • Process deposits daily as per the client remittance advice and are reconciled and scanned in e.doc the same day
  • Communicate signs of credit risk to the DM as they arise and store communication in folder on the F Drive
  • Manage and ensure that all vendors are paid within the company’s terms and correctly
  • Reconcile and review vendor statements monthly
  • Manage W9s for all vendors per check list posted on insite and scanned into the GCI tool
  • Issue checks as per the accounting manual requirements
  • Communicate operational issues to management to ensure that revenue is recognized in the correct reporting period
  • Review the A/P report weekly and ensure it is kept clean of any items older than 60 days
  • Review and ensure that the proper segregation of duties is in place to protect company assets that can be found insite
  • General supervision of work performed by employees and monitor work to ensure that all company standards are met or exceeded

Qualifications of the Accounting Supervisor:

  • Ability to acquire knowledge of company policies and procedures knowledge
  • Maintain a good understanding of the company’s products, services, and systems
  • Effective interpersonal skills, including proven abilities to listen, comprehend, effectively communicate clearly, and concisely to obtain positive results
  • Good Microsoft Office skills (Excel, Word etc.).
