Accounts Payable Specialist

Our client, a nonprofit environmental advocacy group in NYC, is currently seeking an experienced Accounts Payable Specialist to join their growing team! The group is known for its work on issues including global warming, ecosystem restoration, oceans, and human health, and advocates using sound science, economics, and law to find environmental solutions that work.

Salary/Hourly Rate:

$50k – $60k

Position Overview:

The Accounts Payable Specialist verifies approval on all invoices and expense reports. Also, they will ensure reasonableness expenses are coded correctly by analyzing invoice/expense reports.

Responsibilities of the Accounts Payable Specialist:

• Verify approval on all invoices and expense reports
• Ensure reasonableness expenses are coded correctly by analyzing invoice/expense reports
• Review for reasonableness AMEX/expense report amounts against supporting documents such as receipts and invoices to ensure they meet company expensing policies prior to granting approval for processing
• Aid as requested for A/P team special projects

Qualifications of the Accounts Payable Specialist:

• At least 2 – 4 years of work experience in transaction processing / accounts payable is required
• Knowledge of accounts payable standards and procedures
• Ability to prioritize and to multi-task
• Attention to detail and accuracy is imperative
• Able to meet deadlines
• Strong oral and written communication skills
• Strong organizational and analytical skills
• Ability to be an effective team member and display initiative
• Proficient with Microsoft Word and Excel
• NetSuite and Concur experience is a plus

Education Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required
