Our client is a developer and manufacturer of specialty ingredient solutions. They are currently seeking an Analytical Scientist / Analytical Chemist for their Analytical Lab in R&D (this position is not in manufacturing).

Salary/Hourly Rate:

Up to $40/hr DOE

Position Overview:

Our client, a leading producer of specialty ingredient solutions, is seeking an Analytical Scientist / Analytical Chemist who will support new product development, plant improvements and customer requests with an emphasis in chemical and physical product analyses. The analytical lab has equipment including chromatography, thermal analysis, physical testing, and elemental analysis. The Analytical Scientist / Analytical Chemist will have the opportunity to work on most or all this equipment. This is a temp-to-hire opportunity. Our client may consider direct hire under certain circumstances.

Responsibilities of the Analytical Scientist / Analytical Chemist:

  • Operate and maintain analytical equipment, including validations and calibration
  • Follow experimental procedures accurately
  • Perform hands-on benchtop analysis like titrations, pH, conductivity, solution preparation, and dilutions of company and customer materials
  • Carry out routine data analysis using analytical software, Excel, etc.
  • Present the data generated to the technology team
  • Work safely in laboratory environment, wear appropriate PPE, and maintain a clean work area
  • Comply with all safety policies, practices, and procedures

Qualifications of the Analytical Scientist / Analytical Chemist:

  • At least 3 years of experience operating and maintaining of analytical equipment
  • Experience with chromatography (IC, LC, GC, and/or HPLC) is highly desirable
  • Experience with some of the following: ICP-OES, thermal methods – TGA (Thermogravimetric Analysis)/DSC (Differential Scanning Calorimetry/Dynamic Vapor Sorption), XRD (X-ray diffraction), USP and FCC monograph methods, and physical testing methods including sieves, laser diffraction for PSD, density, and titrations is desirable
  • Ability to work 5 days a week
  • Comfortable working in laboratory environment on the bench
  • Must wear required proper lab PPE specifically close-toed shoes, lab coat, gloves, and safety glasses
  • Must have very good verbal and written communications with strong presentation skills
  • Proficiency using Microsoft Office Programs (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.)

Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree or Master’s degree in a science is preferred
  • Will consider an Associate’s degree if the candidate has a lot of relevant experience
