Client Overview:

Our client, a long-standing and family-owned service provider in the plumbing, heating, and fire protection industry, is seeking a detail-oriented AR/Collections Specialist to join their Accounting team. With a reputation for delivering exceptional service to both residential and commercial clients across the NYC metro area, this is a great opportunity for someone looking to build on their receivables experience in a stable and supportive environment.

Salary/Hourly Rate:

$60k – $65k

Position Overview:

The AR/Collections Specialist will be responsible for contacting customers regarding outstanding payments, posting payments, and supporting overall AR functions. The ideal candidate has excellent communication skills, a proactive mindset, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced office setting. The schedule is from Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM (Office closes at 2:00 PM on Summer Fridays)

Responsibilities of the AR/Collections Specialist:

  • Owning the collections department and processes.
  • Perform collections by calling customers regarding overdue invoices.
  • Post payments accurately and efficiently.
  • Monitor and follow up on aging receivables.
  • Maintain detailed records of customer interactions and payment status.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to resolve payment issues.
  • Assist with general administrative and accounting tasks as needed.

Required Experience/Skills for the AR/Collections Specialist:

  • 1 – 10 years of experience in accounts receivable or collections.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel is required.
  • Experience with QuickBooks is a plus, but not required.
  • Ability to work full-time onsite in the Bronx.
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented.
  • Must be comfortable working independently and meeting deadlines.

Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field is required.
