Our client is an international consumer goods company with a mission to create affordable and sustainable products for the global community. They are currently seeking an Associate Researcher to join their team.

Salary/Hourly Rate:

$17/hr – $20/hr for recent graduates, $20/hr – $25/hr depending on relevant industry experience.

Position Overview:

Our client is seeking an Associate Researcher to join the company in its product development laboratory in Edison, NJ. This is a unique opportunity for an individual to join a company that prioritizes being environmentally conscious. The Associate Researcher will be expected to support the Lab team in the lab by performing experiments but also act as liaison with other departments to ensure collaboration. Once the Associate Researcher has adequate experience with the products and experiments, they will have the opportunity to gain project management experience and propose improvements to increase efficiency. Students and recent graduates are welcome to apply and will be considered for junior level positions.

Responsibilities of the Associate Researcher:

  • Working with products ranging from skin care, makeup, lip, hair care, and eye cosmetics.
  • Performing routine tests on products such as measuring pH, specific gravity, viscosity, as well as sensory testing of color, odor, appearance and texture.
  • Keeping track of comprehensive and accurate test results.
  • Working upon multiple development topics and projects as required.
  • Using lab experience and scientific literature to develop, justify and/or investigate formulation, processing techniques, and quality control protocols.
  • Responsible for collecting/organizing data and processes data for analysis.
  • Developing methodologies and strategies needed to progress products through the pipeline, including method development, qualification, formulation, stability support, and product characterization.

Qualifications of the Associate Researcher:

  • Be comfortable working in an independent start-up atmosphere while following cGMP/GLP regulations.
  • Prior relevant industry experience is greatly desired and will be taken into account regarding salary.
  • Significant independent research projects outside of the core curriculum may be considered depending on relevance.
  • Must demonstrate creativity and resourcefulness in proactively identifying and proposing solutions to issues that my arise.
  • Must be comfortable working within an R&D laboratory setting and knowledgeable about the requirements of operating & maintaining an R&D laboratory.
  • Self-starter who can be effective with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with all levels of the company.
  • Writing skills consistent with the ability to prepare concise, timely, and accurate reports.
  • Experience with high-pressure liquid chromatography, Infra-Red (IR), Gas Chromatograph (GC), Ultra Violet/Visible, Particle Size Analysis, KF Titration, and wet chemistry skills are necessary.

Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in the STEM sciences (Biology, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Material Science, etc.).
