Our client is seeking a CAT Scan Technologist to join their fast-paced practice! With over 300 locations in New York, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, and Central Oregon. Salary/Hourly Rate:

$40-45/hr, dependent on experience and other factors

Position Overview:

The CAT Scan Technologist will be responsible for providing high-quality CAT scan images, communicating with physicians regarding CAT scan orders, documenting and obtaining medical records. The CAT Scan Technologist assures quality CAT scan images through employment of proper anatomical positioning, slice thickness and other required techniques, in accordance with the protocols designed by the radiologists.

Responsibilities of the CAT Scan Technologist:

  • Preparing and assisting patients for CAT scan procedures, as requested by a physician
  • Reviewing patient orders in advanced to ensure proper exam has been requested
  • Educating patients about the procedures to be performed including contrast material administration and it’s possible contraindications and adverse effects
  • Setting up CAT scan equipment and apparatus by selecting appropriate protocols required for any prescribed procedures
  • Instructing patients with proper pre and post scan instructions, including but not limited to Barium and IV prep breathing instructions during the scan, and post scan instructions
  • Obtaining essential information from patients, medical records, and previous scans for clinical correlation
  • Preparing intravenous contrast media
  • Operating Radiographic or Bone Density equipment for diagnostic quality imaging for Radiologist interpretation
  • Observing and following safety procedures
  • Verifying patient identification on the study and route it PACS
  • Processing studies onto CD for patient study requests, while maintaining proper HIPPA compliance
  • Ensuring ALARA and Image Gently is appropriately followed
  • Utilizing a daily log for all the patients seen
  • Assuring a sanitary work environment and equipment
  • Maintaining familiarity of the emergency drugs and the equipment’s location
  • Practicing sterile technique and prevent cross contamination when indicated
  • Maintaining a great knowledge in human anatomy and cross section anatomy, proper positioning skills, and appropriate utilization of protocols and scanning techniques
  • Demonstrating familiarity with the departments booking, scheduling, duplication, and PACS systems
  • Maintaining professional and technical knowledge through training and fulfillment of continuing education requirements
  • Demonstrating commitment of total quality management and the tenets of service excellence by acting in accordance with the organizational mission at all times
  • Providing excellent and responsible service to patients, relatives, and other members of WMG
  • Promoting and following WMG policies, rules, and regulations
  • Executing related duties as necessary or as assigned
  • Assisting and following department protocol during medical emergencies
  • Maintaining continuing education credits and professional licenses required by the New York State Department of Health, Bureau of Environmental Protection and The American Registry of Radiologic Technologists

Qualifications for the CAT Scan Technologist:

  • Maintaining superior diagnostic imaging in accordance with standardized procedures
  • Excellent patient and people skills
  • Great knowledge in human anatomy and cross section anatomy, and pathology
  • Ability to communicate urgent findings with Radiologist
  • Proper positioning skills, and appropriate utilization of protocols and scanning techniques
  • High knowledge with variety of routine procedures and applications

Education Requirements:

  • New York State and/or Connecticut License and ARRT Certification with CT modalities
  • Ability to maintain continuing education credits and professional licenses required by the New York State Department of Health, Bureau of Environmental Protection and The American Registry of Radiologic Technologists
