Our client, a tenant-focused private real estate investment firm with a 75-year legacy of successful real estate development, ownership, and management is looking for an Commercial Real Estate Accounting Manager to join the team.
Salary/Hourly Rate:
$90k – $120k plus Bonus
Position Overview:
Our client is responsible for a portfolio of commercial properties, owned by various Funds and Joint Ventures, and meeting lender, tax, and investor requirements. The Accounting Manager will work hand-in-hand with our 3rd party property teams who manage day-to-day accounting operations using our accounting platform (MRI). The Accounting Manager will work closely with other members of Accounting, and also with the Acquisitions, Asset Management, Tax, and Finance teams.
Responsibilities of the Commercial Real Estate Accounting Manager:
- Maintain accuracy of property rent rolls, financial reports, budgets, and re-projections.
- Manage 3rd party accounting managers.
- Review 3rd party property management monthly reports and check registers, annual budgets, quarterly re-projections,
annual escalation true-ups, and acquisition/sale closing statements. - Prepare GAAP, Fair Value, and Tax acquisition/sale general ledger close.
- Generate financial reports and perform financial analysis as required.
- Participate in the due diligence process and review financial due diligence.
- Transition properties to 3rd party property managers, train 3rd party accounting managers on Beacon financial reporting, budget, re-projection, and MRI standards.
- Follow up with sellers/buyers on outstanding issues.
- Establish and document accounting procedures and financial reporting requirements.
- Provide support to 3rd party MRI users.
- Review problems with MRI projects, implement enhancements, etc.
Qualifications of the Commercial Real Estate Accounting Manager:
- Able to work independently and communicate effectively with senior management and business associates.
- Proficient in financial software systems applications.
- Proficient in Microsoft Windows software programs.
- MRI experience is a plus.
- Experience in real estate or REIT is highly desirable.
- Experience using document management software is highly
desirable. - 5 years of Accounting experience
- Experience in using legal database software.
