Controller

Our client is a dynamic PE-operated business headquartered in Miami, FL operating in the wholesale and retail sector of the apparel industry which has experienced rapid growth since its inception. Currently operates 11 stores in North America as well as sells into leading Department Stores. They are seeking a Controller to join their team!

Salary/Hourly Rate:

$100k – $120k

Position Overview:

As the company’s Controller, you will play a critical role in ensuring we continue building a world-class accounting function while partnering across the business to ensure our systems and processes are running smoothly. Our goal is to be scalable as we push towards best-in-class operations. The ideal Controller candidate is someone who inspires a high-performing accounting team but can also embrace ambiguity and loves solving problems.

Responsibilities of the Controller:

• Lead and manage all aspects of the accounting function including general accounting, technical accounting, tax, and compliance
• Oversee the accounting process for accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, inventory, and compliance
• Oversee and own the monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes including detailed analysis and reconciliation of all general ledger accounts and preparation of financial statements in accordance with U.S. GAAP
• Manage our annual financial audit
• Oversee preparation of annual federal and state income tax returns and other tax compliance filings, and coordinate all tax research/projects
• Manage lead relationships with external auditors, accounting/tax advisors, and other service providers
• Deliver accurate and timely results reporting to management, shareholders, regulators, the Board of Directors, the institutional shareholder, and the holding company
• Provide support for the annual budgeting and planning process
• Work with the Sales team on monthly forecasts against the budget including cash flow projections

Qualifications for the Controller:

• Minimum 5 years of accounting experience
• Controller experience preferred (unit economics analysis, ROI analysis etc.)
• Strong ERP systems experience, preferably in SAP Business One and Quick Books
• High proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft 365
• Strong knowledge of US GAAP
• Excellent communicator, both written and verbal
• Experience in apparel wholesale and retail preferred

Education Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting is required
• CPA is preferred
