Our client is New Jersey’s largest non-for-profit that aims to help low income communities in their fight against hunger. They are currently seeking to hire a Development Associate to join their team.

Salary/Hourly Rate:

$25/hr – $30/hr

Position Overview:

Reporting to the Director of Donor Engagement and Planned Giving, the Development Associate will support the Resource Development department in all aspects of cultivating and stewarding donors across divisions including individual giving, foundations, corporations, and special events.

Responsibilities of the Development Associate:

  • Support stewardship, cultivation, and solicitation for both mid-level and major gift portfolios.
  • Check the database daily for new corporate and foundation gifts.
  • Work closely with the Resource Development team to thank donors in a timely manner.
  • Work with the associated senior lead and coordinate Resource Development Board committees (Nominating/Governance, Marketing/PR, and Special Events).
  • Work with the team on the transition to Salesforce.
  • Steward donors who attend cultivation events throughout the year (e.g. bus tours and cultivation dinners).
  • Steward donors after signature events (e.g. Women’s Luncheon), third party events, and cause marketing fundraising campaigns.
  • Work with the events team on preparing for and executing FoodBank signature events (Chefs Tableside, Women’s Luncheon, DUACS, and BJB).
  • Work with the VP of Resource Development and the Finance department to prepare budget revenue and expense projections for each fiscal year.
  • Perform administrative tasks.
  • Order supplies on a quarterly basis for the Resource Development department.

Qualifications for the Development Associate:

  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to communicate effectively, think strategically, prioritize, and meet deadlines.
  • Must possess a personal vehicle and valid driver’s license and be willing to travel as necessary.
  • Knowledge of NJ philanthropy is a plus Computer fluency in Microsoft Office, Salesforce (strongly preferred), web applications, and knowledgeable about the role of technology and electronic communication in fundraising.
  • Understanding of the recordkeeping and stewardship systems that support successful donor relations.
  • Excellent communications (verbal and written) and presentation skills.
  • Ability and willingness to participate in events outside of the workday.

Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree is required.
