Our client is the city’s largest hunger relief organization that is looking for a new Development Associate!
Salary/Hourly Rate:
$25/hr – $30/hr
Position Overview:
As the Development Associate, you will be reporting to the Director of Donor Engagement and Planned Giving, this position will support the Resource Development department in all aspects of cultivating and stewarding donors across divisions including individual giving, foundations, corporations, and special events.
Responsibilities of the Development Associate:
- Support stewardship, cultivation, and solicitation for both mid- level and major gift portfolios
- Check the database daily for new corporate and foundation gifts
- Work closely with the Resource Development team to thank donors on a timely basis. Produce personalized acknowledgment letters for corporate/foundation gifts over $5,000
- Establish and manage a stewardship program for sustainers
- Work with the other Development Associate to coordinate stewardship touchpoints for $500+ donors with donor services and volunteers
- Conduct research on donors and prospects, creating profiles including committees, coordinating meetings/conference calls and assisting with scheduling of events among other duties
- Work with the associated senior lead, coordinate Resource Development Board committees (Nominating/Governance, Marketing/PR, and Special Events)
- Work with the team on the transition to Salesforce
- Become a super user in Salesforce
- Steward donors who attend cultivation events throughout the year (e.g. bus tours and cultivation dinners)
- Steward donors after signature events (e.g. Women’s luncheon), third-party events, and cause marketing fundraising campaigns
- Work with the VP of Resource Development and the Finance department to prepare budget revenue and expense projections for each fiscal year
- Order supplies on a quarterly basis for the Resource Development department
Qualifications for the Development Associate:
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to communicate effectively, think strategically, prioritize, and meet deadlines
- Computer fluency in Microsoft Office, Salesforce (strongly preferred), web applications, and knowledgeable about the role of technology and electronic communication in fundraising
- Understanding of the recordkeeping and stewardship systems that support successful donor relations
- Excellent communications (verbal and written) and presentation skills
- Ability and willingness to participate in events outside of the workday
- Must possess a personal vehicle and valid driver’s license and be willing to travel as necessary
- Knowledge of NJ philanthropy is a plus
