Our client, a leading NYC Institution, is seeking a Direct Marketing Manager who will be responsible for planning and executing compelling multichannel Membership marketing campaigns that drive the growth of their Membership program through acquiring new members and reinstating lapsed memberships.
Salary/Hourly Rate:
$47.00-$50.00 per hour
Position Overview:
The Direct Marketing Manager will be an expert marketer in multichannel campaigns and comfortable in digital, direct mail, email. They will have strategy experience, have the ability to connect the dots, and project management experience. They must understand marketing strategy and have previous experience in Growth Marketing. They will be responsible for meeting monthly revenue targets from acquisition and lapsed audiences. They will report to the Senior Manager for Direct Marketing. The role does NOT involve direct supervision but will be interacting daily with the coordinator on the team.
Responsibilities of the Direct Marketing Manager:
- Develop multichannel marketing campaigns (including print, email, digital, and on-site channels) to connect the institution with target Member and Patron audiences while achieving revenue goals.
- Execute annual marketing plan for Lapsed and Acquisition programs; consider institutional goals, exhibitions, Member benefits, past results, best practices, etc., in iterative campaign adjustments.
- Manage production calendars, define audience segmentation, develop creative, draft copy, and liaise with internal and external partners to ensure the timely production, approval, and fulfillment of campaign efforts across all channels.
- Collaborate with Design, Curatorial, and Printing Services Departments, among other internal departments and outside vendors, to ensure the timely production and approval of printed and digital materials and designs; guide the development and design direction for these marketing materials, including direct mail, email, paid digital, onsite and more.
- Work closely with external vendors to further enhance Membership’s digital marketing strategy, using the channel to forge connections with and convert a diverse prospective audience in paid search, paid social, display, and more.
- Track KPIs and present program reports and analyses to departmental staff; interpret the impact of campaigns and initiatives to drive growth-oriented decision-making.
- Efficiently scale existing channels in line with budget growth and analyze ROI by segment.
- Optimize channel performance by analyzing past campaign data to enhance response rates, promote/retire audience segments, and increase revenue while minimizing unnecessary expenses.
Qualifications of the Direct Marketing Manager:
- At least 5 years of direct Marketing experience required
- Experience with or passion for museums or cultural organizations.
- Demonstrated experience in customer acquisition and knowledge of growth marketing principles, key performance indicators, and industry trends.
- Demonstrated experience in managing time-sensitive and competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong analytical, statistical, and problem-solving skills.
- Experience in writing compelling marketing copy for a range of audience profiles.
- Familiarity with segmentation strategies using a large constituent database.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) and knowledge of a fundraising database such as Tessitura or Raiser’s Edge.
Education Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Communications, or related field
- Master’s degree preferred
