Salary/Hourly Rate:

$250k – $270k

Position Overview:

The Director of Engineering (Platform) will lead the architecture and implementation of web services, APIs, data stores, and infrastructure for the client-facing portal application. This role offers the opportunity to work with modern technology paradigms on Google Cloud, including modularity, functional programming, and reactive applications.

Responsibilities of the Director of Engineering (Platform):

  • Architect and build high-performance, responsive web services and APIs to support client-facing asset management platforms.
  • Model business data into the appropriate data store.
  • Automate and optimize infrastructure components.
  • Write code, perform unit testing, and conduct thorough code reviews.
  • Collaborate with engineering, product, design, and business teams throughout all phases of the software development lifecycle.

Required Experience/Skills for the Director of Engineering (Platform):

  • 7+ years of relevant work experience in software engineering.
  • Expert knowledge of Java.
  • Expert knowledge of RDBMS; NoSQL experience is a plus.
  • Strong understanding of functional programming paradigms.
  • Deep understanding of performance challenges, tradeoffs, and optimization in web applications.
  • Familiarity with unit testing tools and best practices.
  • Proven track record of delivering high-performance web applications.
  • Strong knowledge of data structures, algorithms, and software architecture.
  • Passionate about software development and emerging technologies.

Preferred Experience/Skills for the Director of Engineering (Platform):

  • Experience with Google Cloud platform.
  • Background in modularity and reactive application development.

Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science.
