Our client is an exciting nonprofit that provides a variety of educational programs to New Yorkers! They are eager to bring on an Employee Relations Specialist to jump in and assist!
Salary/Hourly Rate:
$40 – $45/hr
Position Overview:
The Employee Relations Specialist will be responsible for handling delicate employee relations matter, leading investigations, and serving as a trusted advisor. The ideal Employee Relations Specialist candidate should have a strong background in employee relations, has experience with unions, and is excited about working in a nonprofit environment!
Responsibilities of the Employee Relations Specialist:
- Handle sensitive employee relations matters with a sense of urgency Lead complex and confidential investigations on harassment, discrimination, workplace violence, and other issues to reach an effective solution in a timely manner
- Provide support with conflict resolution by providing guidance and direction to managers that align with company policy to ensure legal compliance
- Collaborate with all levels of the organization, including executive management, to build out initiatives
- Cultivate a high quality working environment for employees
- Partner with legal team as needed
Qualifications for the Employee Relations Specialist:
- 4 to 6 years of progressive HR experience is required
- Expertise in employee relations
- Extensive labor law knowledge
- Strong communication skills
- Proven problem solving capabilities
- Ability to work independently
- Exposure to DEI is a big plus
Education Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in HR or a related field is required
