Our client is a small but growing consulting firm that specializes in providing soil sampling, transportation, and disposal services to clients. As well as performing third party reviews for disposal facilities. They are seeking a Environmental Compliance Specialist to join their team!

Salary/Hourly Rate:

$75,000 – $95,000

Position Overview:

The Environmental Compliance Specialist will be responsible for retrieving and reviewing initial environmental documents for customers in need of waste classification, characterization sampling, transportation, and disposal. The Environmental Compliance Specialist maintains a line of communication with clients and subcontractors.

Responsibilities of the Environmental Compliance Specialist:

  • Executes initial environmental document retrieval
  • Reviews reports and remedial documents
  • Documents to be reviewed include NYSDEC and NJDEP PAR, SIR, RIR, RAW, RAR and soil due diligence related documents
  • Authors contracts and reports on property transactions, waste disposal, etc.
  • Interprets data and lab reports for this purpose
  • Assists with quotes and sample plans, as well as disposal facility applications and submittals
  • Works approximately 10 percent of the time in the field, visiting commercial and industrial sites

Qualifications for the Environmental Compliance Specialist:

  • 3 to 5 years of experience with an environmental consulting firm in NJ or NY
  • Knowledgeable about of NYSDEC and NJDEP’s Technical Guidance Documents and Technical Requirements for Site Remediation
  • Strong understanding of waste classification and transactions
  • Prior experience performing due diligence investigations including site inspections and the preparation of Phase I Environmental Site Assessments and PARs
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Valid driver’s license

Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Geology, Biology, Chemistry, or Environmental science is required
