Our client, a multinational insurance organization, is looking for an impressive Financial Analyst / Staff Accountant to join their Finance team at their corporate offices in Sarasota, FL. Salary/Hourly Rate:

$50k – $65k

Position Overview:

The Staff Accountant will join a knowledgeable Accounting Department, will be responsible for complete ownership of monthly financials and reporting. This is a niche, highly regulated industry so the Staff Accountant must be able to communicate with internal and external parties, provide guidance and organization to the team. The Financial Analyst / Staff Accountant will be offered excellent career growth and development opportunities in this role.

Responsibilities of the Financial Analyst / Staff Accountant:

  • Prepares and ensure timely submission of monthly financial statements on a statutory and GAAP basis.
  • Prepares and ensure timely submission of quarterly and annual statutory financial statements.
  • Prepares budget versus actual analysis on a monthly basis.
  • Provides cost saving and cost containment reviews.
  • Prepares reports required by regulatory agencies.
  • Works with the Internal Auditor as required and directed by the Controller/AVP Finance to assist in external audit and to complete internal audit reviews.
  • Assures compliance with all managing general agency contracts.
  • Participates in a wide variety of special projects and compiles a variety of special reports in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Communicates with co-workers, management, clients, agents and others in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Performs other duties as required.

Qualifications of the Financial Analyst / Staff Accountant:

  • 2 – 4+ years of progressive accounting experience.
  • 2+ years straight public accounting experience (audit is preferred).
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, formulas, and if, etc.).
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP.
  • Deadline driven and problem-solver.
  • Highly organized and efficient.
  • Positive attitude and professional.  

Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business is required.
  • Master’s degree and CPA is a huge plus, but not required.
  • CPA Eligible candidates are desirable.
