Our client is a $48B global outsourced investment office acting for highly regarded endowments and foundations, senior investment professionals, and sophisticated ultra-high-net-worth families in Europe, North America, and Asia. They build long-term bespoke portfolios for their clients that invest across a range of traditional and alternative asset classes, with exposures built bottom-up through deep asset manager partnerships. And they are seeking a Fund Accounting Associate to join their team!

Salary/Hourly Rate:

$65k – $75k plus Bonus

Position Overview:

The Fund Accounting Associate, located in Boston, will assist with all aspects of the day-to-day operations of the private fund of funds, or pooled vehicles. The ideal Private Equity Investment Associate should have prior experience in fund accounting and/or fund operations. The successful applicant should be ready for wide-ranging responsibilities in multiple areas and will be expected to be flexible and willing to contribute to the firm’s continued success.

Responsibilities of the Fund Accounting Associate:

  • Review and reconcile accounting reports prepared by third-party administrators, including NAV packages, capital call, and distribution schedules, waterfall calculations, and client statements
  • Manage pooled vehicle cash movements, including review and approval of wires prepared by fund administrators
  • Be responsible for timely payment of all capital calls, fees, and distributions
  • Manage the daily execution process, including booking of all pooled vehicle accounting transactions within the firm’s performance system
  • Support the audit and tax process by overseeing admins and accountants, providing support, reviewing and reconciling reporting, and distributing financial statements and K-1s to clients
  • Support all pooled vehicle-related communications and interactions with the global firm and third-party providers
  • Act as the “information hub” of the organization and serve as a brand ambassador for the firm through management of the team inbox
  • Collaborate with other teams and service providers to research and problem solve

Qualifications for the Fund Accounting Associate:

  • One to two years of experience working in private funds
  • Strong understanding of hedge fund and/or private equity fund operations
  • Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills
  • Comfort with data analysis and strong technical acumen, specifically in Microsoft Excel. VBA and SQL are a plus
  • Highly motivated and proactive, anticipates what should be done to drive the business forward
  • Very strong organizational and project management skills; ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
  • Team player who is very comfortable working in a small, entrepreneurial company
  • Key responsibilities may be assessed and are subject to change from time to time based on the needs of the business
  • Work overtime as needed

Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or other related areas with a strong GPA
