Our client, a volunteer and donor fueled nonprofit organization, is looking for a motivated Grant Staff Accountant to join their Accounting team at their Tampa, Florida headquarters. This is a valuable opportunity for a Grant Staff Accountant professional to join an internationally known organization and support their long-term strategy and growth. The Grant Staff Accountant will be a focused and diligent worker who excels in both accounting and federal grant funding.

Salary/Hourly Rate:

$45,000 – $55,000

Position Overview:

The Grant Staff Accountant will join the unified Accounting Department, reporting directly to the Accounting Manager, and working closely the Senior Accountant. The Staff Accountant will supervise and audit the work of the grant accounting and general ledger maintenance duties.

Responsibilities of the Grant Staff Accountant:

  • Handle the general ledger
  • Regularly review grants (federal and state) to ensure accuracy
  • Record both revenue and expenses for grants
  • Bank and credit reconciliations
  • Journal entries and discrepancy resolution
  • Month end closing procedures
  • Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable aging reports
  • Financial Statement preparation and reporting (grants)
  • Review compliance for federal, state, local and private grants

Qualifications for the Grant Staff Accountant:

  • 2 to 5 years of accounting experience is required
  • Experience with a nonprofit is a plus
  • Highly proficient in Excel (v/h-lookups, pivot tables, formulas)
  • Self-sufficient and works well independently
  • Detail and numbers oriented
  • Highly organized and efficient
  • Positive demeanor and professional

Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting is required
