Our client is an industry leader in specialty manufactured materials and operates fully out of their Boston headquarters. The culture is warm, and team oriented with a passion for quality and precision. At this time, they are looking to add a Materials Technician to the business. 

Salary:

$18 – $19/hr

Position Overview:

The Materials Technician will work in a highly regulated laboratory. The Materials Technician will weigh, measure and perform other basic physical tests on the materials and organize, transport and label the materials. The Materials Technician will need a strong work ethic and a desire to learn, but no formal education or training is required. This contract role is expected to transition into a permanent position within 1 year of employment.

Responsibilities of the Materials Technician:

  • Conduct physical tests in the laboratory on building materials including measurements, weights and visual tests in line with ASTM standards
  • Assist Research & Development, Quality Control and other laboratory teams as needed
  • Schedule and organize testing to be done on construction materials
  • Assist with field testing and work with people from multiple teams
  • Prepare samples for testing and uses basic mathematics
  • Operate equipment found in a pilot plant setting
  • Identifies deviations and unusual results
  • Order and manage inventory as needed
  • Carefully document in a regulated notebook

Qualifications for the Materials Technician:

  • Experience working in a regulated production or manufacturing setting preferred, but experience in shipping & receiving, warehouse, delivery, field service and other related positions accepted too
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and operate as well as troubleshoot machinery

Education Requirements:

  • High School Diploma/GED preferred
  • Associate’s degree in construction, science, math or a related area a bonus!
  • Trade skills also appreciated
