Our client, an independent eye care organization located in Jersey City, NJ is looking to add a great Ophthalmic Technician to their team!

Salary/Hourly Rate:

$17/hr – $29/hr (DOE and certifications)

Position Overview:

The Ophthalmic Technician supports the Physician(s) in their busy practice. This full-time position involves direct patient care, clinical tasks and administrative responsibilities.

Responsibilities of the Ophthalmic Technician:

  • Obtaining/documenting patient history
  • Performing patient work up, including all vision testing
  • Obtaining all appropriate consent forms
  • Room set-up for the Physician and clean-up following procedures
  • Stocking supplies
  • Data entry into practice management and EMR systems
  • Greeting/escorting patients to exam room and patient education regarding procedures to be performed
  • Overseeing patient flow Reviewing and filing medical charts
  • Assisting the Physician with miscellaneous projects/tasks
  • Assisting the Clinical department as needed
  • Complying with all practice procedures and protocols

Qualifications of the Ophthalmic Technician:

  • 1 – 3 years of experience in a medical office setting is preferred. Ophthalmology experience is preferred.
  • Superior level of customer service and friendly demeanor
  • Excellent computer skills specifically the requirement of Microsoft applications including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Meticulous attention to detail
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment

Education Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required
  • Bachelor’s degree is preferred
