Position Overview:

The Payroll and Benefits Administrator (PBA) reporting directly to the Senior Director, Human Resources (SDHR) is responsible for processing the bi-weekly payroll, working with Accounting, Time & Attendance Supervisors, and the SDHR to ensure a smooth flow of information between the departments as it relates to employees, their benefits and pay. This Payroll and Benefits Administrator role includes the assistance of maintaining the ADP WorkForceNow (ADP WFN) system and leading staff training to promote the available self-service resources. In addition, the Payroll and Benefits Administrator is responsible for administering benefits, maintaining clean and accurate benefits records among the various benefit portals and internal systems, and assisting with the open enrollment process.

Responsibilities of the Payroll and Benefits Administrator:

  • Process the bi-weekly payroll using the internal payroll system, ADP WFN
  • Work with the Time & Attendance Supervisors, the DHR, and the Accounting team to verify the accuracy of each payroll by reconciling final payroll reports, maintaining an accurate payroll checklist for bi-weekly changes in benefits and employment, and troubleshooting as needed
  • Maintain a working knowledge of the ADP WFN system features and updates
  • Maintain a working knowledge of payroll best practices
  • Maintain clean and accurate employment profiles and benefits enrollment history within ADP WFN
  • Process the downloads of the bi-weekly, quarterly, and annual payroll reports
  • Prepare and reconcile monthly benefit reporting
  • Prepare and submit bi-weekly pre-tax benefits contributions
  • Generate payroll, benefits, and statistical-related reports as requested by the DHR
  • Work with the Accounting team to compile payroll-related work schedules for the annual audit, and assist the Controller with payroll general ledger inquiries, as needed
  • Assist with the implementation and training of new payroll features, protocols, and procedures

Qualifications for the Payroll and Benefits Administrator:

  • Working knowledge or experience with ADP WFN is a plus
  • Understanding or working knowledge of payroll and/or HR best practices
  • Working knowledge of employment and labor laws
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to demonstrate excellent client and customer service skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office; advanced technical skills are a plus
  • Ability to complete assignments with minimal supervision
  • Ability to work collaboratively and contribute working knowledge to projects and assignments
  • Must be reliable, flexible, and adaptable to support changing demands
  • Ability to take initiative and problem-solve as needed
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality

Education Requirements:

  • High School diploma or GED with a minimum of 1 to 3 years of related work experience in payroll and/or HR is required
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field with 1 to 2 years of work experience is preferred
