A global manufacturing client of ours in Middlesex County is seeking an experienced Payroll Specialist to join their team due to growth. The ideal candidate will have experience using Ultipro.
Salary/Hourly Rate:
$65k – $73k
Position Overview:
The Payroll Specialist will be responsible for ensuring accurate and timely processing of payroll for an organization.
They will play a critical role in managing payroll systems, calculating wages, preparing payroll reports, and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations
and policies. The Payroll Specialist will collaborate closely with HR personnel, finance teams, and employees to ensure seamless payroll operations.
Responsibilities of the Payroll Specialist:
- Accurately process payroll on a timely basis, ensuring that all employee compensation is calculated correctly, including wages, overtime, bonuses, commissions, and deductions.
- Maintain and update employee payroll records, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality. Manage changes to employee information, such as new hires, terminations, promotions, and salary adjustments.
- Oversee time and attendance systems, review and validate employee timesheets or time records, resolve discrepancies, and ensure accurate attendance data for payroll processing.
- Coordinate payroll deductions for employee benefits, such as health insurance, retirement plans, and flexible spending accounts. Process and reconcile benefit-related contributions and ensure accurate reporting.
- Generate various payroll reports, including payroll summaries, tax reports, labor distribution reports, and ad-hoc reports as required by management or regulatory bodies.
- Conduct regular audits of payroll data, reports, and transactions to ensure accuracy and resolve discrepancies. Reconcile payroll records with general ledger accounts.
- Maintain and update payroll systems, software, and databases. Stay updated with industry trends and best practices in payroll processing and technology.
- Respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll, deductions, taxes, and benefits. Address and resolve payroll-related issues and concerns in a timely and professional manner.
Qualifications for the Payroll Specialist:
- Proven work experience as a Payroll Specialist or in a similar payroll processing role.
- Strong understanding of payroll principles, tax regulations, and employment laws.
- Proficiency in using Ultpro.
- Attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and calculations.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills to meet strict payroll deadlines.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Effective communication skills to interact with employees, HR, and Finance teams.
- High level of integrity and ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
- Knowledge of Excel or other spreadsheet software for data analysis and reporting.
Education Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree is preferred.
