Our client, a reputable and fast-growing retail organization is aggressively seeking a sharp and hardworking Payroll Specialist to join their team.

Salary/Hourly Rate: $20 – $25/hr

Position Overview: The Payroll Specialist is accountable for managing the payroll processes for clients assigned by the Payroll Manager. The Payroll Specialist serves as the point-person for all payroll-related issues & functions, and executes such with the utmost care & concern and strives for 100% customer satisfaction.

Responsibilities of the Payroll Specialist:

  • Process assigned client payroll processes in accordance to the Master Payroll Schedule
  • Communicate regularly as needed with each client assigned to this position
  • Assist clients with new-hire e-onboarding in the CHR Client Portal
  • For clients not using e-onboarding, manage client new-hire entries in Prism, EE file audits, I9 verifications, E-verify (where required), and EE file maintenance for those clients desiring such service features
  • Assist clients with setting up and tracking Paid Time Off (PTO)
  • Assist clients with accessing, managing, and customizing their online portal
  • Manage the packaging and shipment of client payroll packages upon completion
  • Maintain high standard of time management and be able to manage your own daily and weekly task list to remain on top of all client payroll assignments managed by this role
  • Assist clients with prompt and friendly answers to questions about their payroll, employee information, invoices, and reports
  • Prepare client reports upon request in a timely manner
  • Provide new client orientation meetings (either in-person, telephone, or via goto meeting) on how to use our online portal

Qualifications for the Payroll Specialist:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience of payroll processing, preferably with a payroll service provider which involved servicing a wide variety of employer sizes and types
  • Must understand the core competencies involving payroll processing, pay frequencies, payroll tax withholding, Form W4, direct deposit, voluntary payroll deductions, handling off-cycle payrolls, second checks, and general understanding of Form W2
  • Ultipro software experience is a MUST
  • Candidates must possess very good MS Excel skills, and general knowledge of sum, v-lookup, and other formulas
  • Excellent time management skills to enable completion of daily routine client payroll assignments in an efficient and orderly fashion, knowing how to prioritize tasks as needed
  • Excellent communication (verbal and writing) skills and customer service experience
  • Strong computer skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, and Outlook, in particular use of calendar reminders)

Education Requirements:

  • Associates’ Degree is highly preferred
