Our client is a lingerie, sleepwear and ready-to-wear designer clothing line and they are seeking an experienced Product Development Associate to join our team. The Product Development Associate with work with the Design, Tech, Graphic, Sales and Merchandising teams to ensure all deadlines for the finished product are met.

Salary/Hourly Rate:

$50k – $58k Based on experience

Position Overview:

The Product Development Associate will assist the PD Manager with the sourcing and development of a commercially viable line that fulfills the CCO’s design vision, brand strategy, and financial plans. The Product Development Associate will assist with the product life-cycle calendar and ensure all departments are prepared for market and handoff to Production. The Product Development Associate role is in office 5 days a week in New York City. The Product Development Associate must be vaccinated and able to juggle many things well. One year prior product development experience is required.

Responsibilities of the Product Development Associate:

  • Monitor the brand’s product development process from initial design concept to prototype to commercialization
  • Work with the Design team to maintain seasonal development boards and coordinate L/Ds and S/Os
  • Manage the prototype development process with all internal departments
  • Track all development submissions and samples and create and manage line lists
  • Communicate with overseas factories and mills to ensure deadlines are met
  • Collaborate with Production and Tech to provide all fabric info
  • Coordinate with Production on shipping info and with vendor changes and future dev opportunities
  • Research quantities for materials based on design and sales and feedback
  • Work closely with Sales/Merchandising/Production to update pricing, care, and sourcing issues
  • Maintain seasonal fabric binders with swatches, fabric details, and mill cards
  • Support Design and Tech at fittings, taking notes, and follow up on fit issues

Qualifications of the Product Development Associate:

  • 1 – 3 years of experience in product development
  • Must be vaccinated

Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Textiles, Fashion Merchandising, Design or equivalent
