Property Accountant

Salary/Hourly Rate:

$40 – 45/hr

Position Overview:

The Property Accountant works in a leadership role to analyze and present data related to the financial status of the company. They use their specialized experience working with business budgets and accounts to ensure the company is meeting its goals. This position will play a key role in the organization’s strategy and long-term financial security. The Property Accountant will collaborate with the operations team to analyze finances and develop budgets that will keep the company’s costs down.

Responsibilities of the Property Accountant:

• Maintain the accrual books for approximately 6 to 10 properties within a region
• Includes approving coding on purchases, recording journal entries, and following monthly closing procedures
• Assists management in the budget process
• Includes interfacing with management for assumptions, preparing budgets, inputting budget via journal entry into accounting software
• Reports to management monthly and compares actual results to budget
• Conducts annual reconciliations of CAM and semi-annual RET expenses with follow up billing to tenants
• Responsible for the assistance with information needed from individual tenant audits

Qualifications for the Property Accountant:

• 3+ years of Property Accounting experience
• High degree of accuracy; attention to detail
• Advanced accounting knowledge and experience sufficient to independently track, manage, reconcile and analyze financial statements
• Knowledge should include ability to use reporting capabilities of the system and maintain the chart of accounts with customizations to fit business needs
• Established experience in Excel is a must (proficient user required)
• Excellent communications skills
• Ability to work in a team environment and engage in cross-functional collaboration
• Balance sheet and P&L statements is preferred

Education Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field is required
