Our client is a place-based community development organization serving primarily the North Beach and the Tenderloin areas of San Francisco.  They are looking for an experienced, professional Property Manager with affordable housing knowledge. This is a community development organization with many roles – advocates, organizers, planners, and managers of affordable housing.

Salary/Hourly Rate:

$18-22 an hour

Position Overview:

The Property Manager will oversee all aspects of the designated property’s daily operations, ensuring safe living conditions for residents and a positive work environment for staff. The Property Manager will understand and be sensitive to the issues that face low-income residents and ensure that the building(s) comply with funding agency regulations.

Responsibilities of the Property Manager:

  • Oversee all aspects of the building(s)’ daily operations, ensuring safe living conditions for residents
  • Responsible for complying with all guidelines, procedures, and regulations of all applicable regulatory agencies
  • Process paperwork for applications, move-ins, move-outs and certifications in compliance with regulatory agencies’ procedure
  • Orient new residents to building site, policies and programs
  • Respond to staff or resident grievances and provide problem resolution assistance
  • Conduct regular building and property inspections with the Maintenance Staff
  • Train and supervise staff in building safety & emergency procedures, resident rules, and record keeping
  • Develop, monitor, and maintain the property budget and answer any questions in regards to the budget
  • Work with Resident Services to offer services that benefit the residents

Qualifications for the Property Manager:

  • Three (3) years’ experience in affordable residential property management
  • Three (3) years prior supervisory experience
  • Knowledge of affordable housing programs (i.e. HUD, Tax Credit, Section 8, MOH)
  • Basic knowledge of landlord tenant issues and conflict resolution
  • Knowledge of Fair Housing, ADA, and 504 compliance related issues
  • Ability to interact with government agencies, other service providers, and the community
  • Excellent administrative, organizational and written/verbal communication skills
  • Familiarity with the neighborhood of the work site
  • Bilingual in Cantonese and English highly preferred

Education Requirements:

  • High School diploma or GED equivalent
  • Certified Occupancy Specialist (COS), Tax Credit Specialist (TCS), California Certified


  • Eligible for Atrium Care Package
