Salary/Hourly Rate:

$100k – $120k

Position Overview:

The Purchasing Manager is responsible for the management and oversight of procurement activities and transactions, the creation of policies and procedures, preparing reports, analysis, presentations, and providing administrative and direct support. The Purchasing Manager will direct the streamlining of the procurement cycle, contracting and sourcing throughout the organization. They will implement an innovative and efficient centralized purchasing function that utilizes available technology and achieves overall savings. The Purchasing Manager will develop a communication strategy that keeps program and corporate customers informed and well served.

Responsibilities of the Purchasing Manager:

  • Engage in regular communication with customers customers, suppliers, and internal stakeholders to support the generic pharmaceutical operation.
  • Actively manage daily purchasing operations within budget.
  • Monitor daily KPIs related to the procurement of goods and services to ensure on-time shipments, cost savings opportunities, quality, and excellent customer service.
  • Maintain and review records of items purchased, costs, deliveries, and product performance for internal reporting purposes.
  • Negotiate with vendors’ contract terms and pricing to get the best deal.
  • Actively research market trends related to products for best pricing and maintain an active supplier network at all times in accordance with company standards.
  • Update and maintain records of all orders, payments, and received stocks.

Qualifications for the Purchasing Manager:

  • Must have previous pharmaceutical or similar industry purchasing experience for consideration.
  • Experience in procurement of raw materials is a MUST HAVE.
  • Packing material purchasing experience is a plus.
  • Capital and engineering material purchasing experience is a plus.
  • Proven supplier network and product market knowledge specifically related to the pharmaceutical manufacturing industry is required.
  • Must have previous experience working in an SAP environment.
  • Proven track record of strong negotiation skills.
  • Experience working in a global procurement environment.

Education Requirements:

  • Bachelors’ degree in Science, Supply Chain, Engineering, or Pharmacy is required. Master’s degree is a plus.
  • 6 – 8 years of experience in Formulations Procurement or Master’s degree with 5 years of experience.
