Our client, a growing biotech company in the Boston area, is looking for a Research Associate to join their growing team. This growing team values innovation and passion in its members as they continue to push boundaries.

Salary/Hourly Rate: $22-30/hour Based on Experience

Position Overview: The successful Research Associate will design, execute and troubleshoot experiments and will be responsible for analyzing and interpreting results. Work will be focused mainly on bio-therapeutics and protein characterization. This position requires expertise in bioanalytical procedures including; working with biological serum samples, immunoanalytical workflows, and a solid background in protein biochemistry.

Responsibilities of the Research Associate:

  • Independently using appropriate experimental design to accomplish an assigned series of interconnected experiments to address specific research questions or to implement new methodologies
  • Independently operating and maintaining laboratory equipment
  • Troubleshooting and solving problems with biochemical/biophysical experiments
  • Investigating and aiding in development of new methods and technologies for project advancement
  • Performing various assays with minimal supervision
  • Aiding in additional projects to help the team as needed

Qualifications for the Research Associate: 

  • Experience with modern protein analytical techniques (HPLC, fluorescence spectroscopy, FTIR, LC-MS, etc.)
  • Experience with ELISA, flow cytometry, and other cell-based assays
  • Experience with method development, method validation and familiarity with cGMP practices is desired
  • Meticulous organization skills
  • Knowledge and understanding of protein purification
  • Ability to communicate results and concepts clearly to scientists and the public
  • Exceptional time management and the ability to prioritize competing deadlines
  • Ability to efficiently find creative solutions to problems
  • Strong multi-tasking skills and the ability to wear different “hats” as necessary in a fast-paced startup environment
  • Must have multichannel pipette experience

Education Requirements: 

  • Minimum of bachelor’s degree in a related area (Biology, Biochemistry, Chemistry, Molecular Biology) 
  • MS Degree in Physical or Life Sciences, or BS Degree in Physical or Life Sciences and 2+ years laboratory experience
