Our client is looking for a Senior Accountant to join their company.

Salary/Hourly Rate:
 $65k-75K

Position Overview:
 The Senior Accountant oversees the general accounting operations by controlling and verifying all financial transactions as well as preparing the company’s GAAP financial statements. A successful Senior accountant combines excellent analytical skills with a thorough knowledge of accounting principles to analyze financial reports and forecasts. The ideal candidate has also experience collaborating with peers in multiple departments and leading other Junior Accountants.

Responsibilities of the Senior Accountant:

  • Lead the month-end and year-end close process
  • Verify, allocate, post and reconcile balance sheet and income statement accounts
  • Prepare and post monthly and annual journal entries
  • Reconcile bank statements and participate in the weekly cash forecast process
  • Prepare monthly financial statements and variance reports
  • Assist with annual budget development and analysis
  • Maintain fixed assets and depreciation schedules
  • Lead monthly inventory review process
  • Conduct inventory reserve analysis on an annual basis and generate reports for senior management
  • Review labor, material rates and overhead allocations and generate product cost reports
  • Lead monthly and annual inventory count process
  • Review and recommend modifications to accounting systems, policies and procedures
  • Assist with tax audits and tax returns (including sales, property and income taxes)
  • Work with audit firm to complete annual audit report
  • Ensure accounting practices confirm to GAAP and other regulatory requirements
  • Other adhoc financial and accounting analysis as assigned

Qualifications for the Senior Accountant:

  • Five to seven years of relevant experience as an Accountant or Financial Analyst
  • Demonstrated skill in accounting and financial analysis in a manufacturing/assembly environment (Cost accounting experience a plus)
  • Account reconciliation and journal entry experience is required
  • Strong collaboration and teamwork skills
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret financial reports
  • Strong communication skills with ability to effectively interact with other departments, auditors, customers or other business associates
  • Knowledge of GAAP and regulatory reporting requirements
  • Experience with ERP/MRP systems, Syspro experience is a plus
  • High degree of commitment, initiative, flexibility and attention to detail
  • Must have an analytical approach to problem solving
  • Ability to simultaneously manage multiple projects at one time
  • Excellent follow through and the ability to work in a fast paced and challenging entrepreneurial environment
  • Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Excel as well as a variety of computer software applications in word processing, database, presentation software (MSWord, Excel, Access, PowerPoint), and Outlook
  • Experience working in an ERP system required

Education Requirements:

  • BA/BS degree in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline (CPA a plus)
