This client is a supplier to the personal care industry in Northern New Jersey with a focus on skincare and hair care products that are innovative and push market trends. Right now, they are looking to hire a Skincare Chemist.

Salary: Based on Related Industry Experience

Position Overview: The Skincare Chemist position requires a strong understanding and proven experience in the formulation, troubleshooting and development of specialty skincare products. Only candidates with a technical background in formulations can be considered. This is a highly-independent role that requires creativity, industry knowledge and a technical education.

Responsibilities of the Skincare Chemist:

  • Be an integral part of project development and need to work independently and have the ability to manage multiple projects at once
  • Have a creative mind for problem solving when hitting roadblocks
  • Develop novel formulations and improve upon existing product lines to replace raw materials and increase efficiency and product quality
  • Create specialty products for other businesses that appeal to a high-end client base
  • Speak to clients when needed
  • Be responsible for developing new products to stay ahead of the market in skincare
  • In depth troubleshooting and contribution to new product innovation alongside other team members
  • Collaborate with internal employees and follow company procedures to meet goals and stay in form with timelines
  • Strictly following lab safety rules, corporate expectations and FDA compliance

Qualifications for the Skincare Chemist:

  • 2-5  years of skincare formulations experience including: wrinkle creams, eye serums, pore minimizers, skin treatments, specialty masks, etc
  • Professional oral and written communication skills for collaborative work with R&D, Quality and Marketing Teams
  • Innovative ideas and self- motivating drive
  • The ability to speak and operate professional under stressful and fast paced situations

Education Requirements:

  • BS or MS in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Cosmetic Science, Materials Science or related
