Our client, an international construction company, is looking for a mid-level Staff Accountant to join their growing team. Our client is a major supplier in its respective industry and is expanding rapidly throughout Central Florida.

$20-$30/hr

Position Overview:


The Staff Accountant will join the team in Central Florida and report directly to the Controller. The Staff Accountant will maintain the General Ledger accounts and business transactions of the organization, applying the Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) that includes analytical work and thorough review of financial records. The goal for the Staff Accountant is to become a Controller in the organization within a few years.

Responsibilities of the Staff Accountant:

  • Assist the Controller with the day-today, monthly, and year-end operation of the Accounting/Finance Department including budget review and analysis
  • Perform daily accounting processes including journal entries, account reconciliations including bank statements, fixed assets, accrual, and prepaid expenses
  • Accounts Receivable – generate customer billings, monitor accounts receivable balances, apply payments, reconcile customer accounts, and generate lien releases and communicate with customer regarding unpaid balances
  • Payroll (ADP) – process payroll, enter new employees, create journal entries and other HR activities including I-9 reporting and benefit enrollments
  • Assist in preparing financial reports
  • Any other duties as assigned

Qualifications for the Staff Accountant:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Work and Outlook)
  • 3-5 years of general accounting experience
  • Clearly understands accounting concepts, transactional flow (t-accounts) and financial terminology
  • Understanding construction payment applications (AIA) and schedule of values preferred
  • Effective team player who interacts well with others
  • Excellent communication skills, written and verbal, with the ability to clearly communicate issues to all levels of management

Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting is required
