Our client is a global specialty insurance provider based in New York. They are looking to add a Payroll Specialist to their team.

Salary/Hourly Rate:

$80 – $95k, plus Discretionary bonus 

Position Overview:

The Payroll Specialist is responsible for managing and administering payroll and benefits for employees in both the United States and Canada. The Payroll Specialist will manage and administer full-cycle bi-weekly payroll for US and Canadian employees.

Responsibilities of the Payroll Specialist:

  • Prepare and distribute payroll reports.
  • Update payroll records including salary changes, leave, and new hires.
  • As the payroll specialist, you will coordinate with the payroll and benefits team leader to reconcile payroll accounts.
  • The Payroll Specialist will also manage benefits-related inquiries from employees and maintain accurate benefits records.
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local payroll regulations in the US and Canada.

Required Experience/Skills for the Payroll Specialist:

  • 3+ years of experience in payroll and benefits administration.
  • The Payroll Specialist will have strong knowledge of federal and state payroll laws and regulations in the US and ideally Canada.
  • Experience with payroll software and HRIS systems (e.g., ADP Celergo, ADP Smart Compliance, SagePeople).
  • Excellent attention to detail and strong analytical skills.
