Salary/Hourly Rate:
$65k
Position Overview:
The Assistant Buyer is an entry-level role ideal for individuals looking to build a career in merchandising. This role offers hands-on experience and mentorship while supporting a buying team with day-to-day responsibilities and learning the fundamentals of retail buying and planning.
Responsibilities for the Assistant Buyer:
- Support the buying team with purchase order management and markdown processing.
- Perform basic data analysis using retail math to assess sales and inventory levels.
- Monitor merchandise reports and open-to-buy (OTB) figures.
- Assist in vendor relationship management and participate in vendor meetings.
- Ensure timely delivery and resolution of shipment issues.
- Utilize internal systems for merchandising and inventory tracking.
- Develop product knowledge through in-store visits and market research.
- rack receipt flow and update the buying team on merchandise status.
- Prepare reports and materials for meetings and product planning sessions.
Required Experience/Skills for the Assistant Buyer:
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail.
- Analytical mindset with a basic understanding of retail math.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
- Enthusiasm for retail and consumer products.
Preferred Experience/Skills for the Assistant Buyer:
- Internship or previous experience in retail, merchandising, or buying.
- Familiarity with merchandising systems or reporting tools.
Education Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree required.
