Client Overview:

Our client is a fast-paced Childrenswear apparel brand with a focus on quality-driven, trend-conscious collections. Their team is searching for a Product Development Associate and they are committed to collaboration, product excellence, and innovation, bringing stylish, production-ready garments to market with precision and speed.

Salary/Hourly Rate:

$30/hr – $40/hr

Position Overview:

The Product Development Associate will manage the end-to-end development of seasonal apparel collections. This role requires flexibility to occasionally engage in evening conversations with international factory partners.

Responsibilities of the Product Development Associate:

  • Drive the product development process from initial concept through final production handoff.
  • Collaborate closely with design, technical design, and sourcing teams.
  • Create and maintain clear, accurate technical sketches and design flats using Adobe Illustrator.
  • Coordinate with global vendors to manage sample development, construction, and costing.
  • Ensure on-time sample delivery aligned with seasonal calendar milestones.
  • Evaluate prototypes for fit, quality, fabric performance, and workmanship.
  • Lead fit sessions and track revisions in alignment with brand and production standards.
  • Maintain effective communication with overseas factories and support evening meetings as needed.

Required Experience/Skills for the Product Development Associate:

  • 5 – 8 years of apparel product development experience, with focus on knits and woven fabrics.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong sense of ownership and accountability in product management.
  • Flexible and adaptable approach to communication across time zones.
  • Deep understanding of apparel construction, global sourcing, fit, and costing.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.

Preferred Experience/Skills for the Product Development Associate:

  • Experience working with overseas vendors and factories.
  • Knowledge of sustainable development practices.
  • Background in both fashion and performance-oriented apparel development.

Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design, Textile Science, Product Development.
