Salary/Hourly Rate:

$23/hr – $24/hr

Position Overview:

The Medical Enrollment Specialist plays a key role in supporting patient access to care by accurately processing enrollments into insurance plans and financial assistance programs. This individual serves as the first point of contact for patients needing guidance with eligibility, documentation, and coverage verification, ensuring a smooth and supportive experience.

Responsibilities of the Enrollment Specialist:

• Assist patients with insurance applications and enrollments (Medicaid, Medicare, private plans).
• Verify insurance coverage and benefits using electronic systems or by contacting providers directly.
• Collect, review, and enter accurate demographic, financial, and insurance information.
• Educate patients on insurance benefits, co-pays, and financial responsibilities.
• Ensure compliance with HIPAA and other regulatory requirements.
• Coordinate with billing, case management, and patient access teams to avoid service delays.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of health coverage programs and eligibility requirements.

Required Experience/Skills for the Enrollment Specialist:

• 1 – 2 years of experience in healthcare registration, billing, or insurance enrollment.
• Strong data entry and administrative skills.
• Excellent communication and customer service abilities.
• Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and confidentiality protocols.

Preferred Experience/Skills for the Enrollment Specialist:

• Experience with Medicaid/Medicare enrollments.
• Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems.
• Bilingual (Spanish, Haitian Creole, etc.) a plus.

Education Requirements:

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Associate’s degree or relevant certifications in healthcare administration preferred.
