Client Overview:
Our client is a contemporary fine jewelry brand based in New York City, known for blending timeless elegance with modern edge. They are a small but growing team seeking a creative and self-driven Freelance Jewelry Designer to support the upcoming seasonal lines.
Salary/Hourly Rate:
$28/hr – $32/hr
Position Overview:
We are looking for a Freelance Jewelry Designer to support our client’s Design team with concept development, sketching, CADs, and sample coordination. This role is ideal for someone highly creative, detail-oriented, and experienced in both the technical and artistic aspects of jewelry design. The ideal candidate is comfortable working independently, meeting deadlines, and collaborating with Production and Merchandising teams.
Responsibilities of the Freelance Jewelry Designer:
- Translate design briefs and inspiration into original jewelry concepts.
- Create detailed hand sketches and/or CAD renderings for new styles.
- Prepare spec sheets and tech packs for sample development.
- Communicate with vendors and manufacturers to ensure accurate execution.
- Research trends, materials, and market competitors for seasonal inspiration.
Required Experience/Skills for the Freelance Jewelry Designer:
- 3+ years of jewelry design experience (freelance or in-house).
- Strong sketching and rendering skills (hand or digital).
- Proficiency in CAD software.
- Solid understanding of metals, stones, and construction techniques.
- Experience creating tech packs and working with manufacturers.
Preferred Experience/Skills for the Freelance Jewelry Designer:
- Adobe Creative Suite proficiency (especially Illustrator & Photoshop).
- Previous experience working with international vendors.
- Knowledge of current trends in fashion and jewelry.
Education Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree is required.
