Direct Strategic Sourcing Manager

Our client is a global leader in vertical transportation and mobility solutions. This organization operates in over 100 countries and supports an extensive service network with thousands of employees. The company is known for its strong focus on innovation, quality, and customer service across a wide range of products, including elevators, escalators, moving walks, and integrated digital platforms. Currently, they are looking to add a Direct Strategic Sourcing Manager to their team.

Salary/Hourly Rate:

$130k Annually, plus 15% Bonus

Position Overview:

The Direct Strategic Sourcing Manager will be responsible for developing and executing end-to-end procurement sourcing strategies within defined direct spend categories, particularly in mechanical and electronics domains. This role will lead commercial negotiations, manage supplier relationships, optimize tail spend, and drive cost reductions while supporting manufacturing and field operations. The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker with deep procurement expertise, strong category management experience, and a track record of sourcing complex, high-impact components across global supply networks.

Responsibilities of the Direct Strategic Sourcing Manager:

• Lead the development and execution of sourcing and procurement strategies for direct categories, with a focus on category management and tail spend optimization.
• Focus on cost reduction, quality improvement, supplier performance, and consolidation.
• Analyze total spend, market trends, and pricing structures to develop data-driven strategies across both core and non-core spend areas.
• Negotiate contracts and commercial terms with key suppliers.
• Create and implement corrective action plans in collaboration with Supplier Quality Engineering.
• Develop category roadmaps and identify new supplier opportunities to support innovation and savings.
• Manage and monitor supplier performance and resolve supply-related issues.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment and efficiency.

Required Experience/Skills for the Direct Strategic Sourcing Manager:

• 10+ years of strategic sourcing and category management experience in direct spend (mechanical components, raw materials, or electronics).
• Demonstrated success managing and optimizing tail spend across a global supply base.
• Strong negotiation skills with both suppliers and internal stakeholders.
• Deep understanding of procurement processes, cost drivers, and market dynamics.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Visio).
• Experience with ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, or Ariba.
• Ability to analyze complex data sets and present actionable insights.
• Strong change management and cross-functional collaboration skills.

Preferred Experience/Skills for the Direct Strategic Sourcing Manager:

• Experience in electronics sourcing or supply chain operations.
• Certifications in Supply Chain Management, Six Sigma (Green/Black Belt), or PMP.
• Familiarity with strategic sourcing in a manufacturing environment.

Education Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or Business Administration is required.
• Master’s degree or an MBA is preferred.
