Client Overview:

Our client, one of the largest vertically run ophthalmology administrative services organizations in the mid-Atlantic region, is seeking a Temporary Patient Service Representative to join their fast-paced office. They have over 80 locations and is seeking a medical receptionist who has prior experience in the health care industry, strong customer service skills, and is seeking career progression.

Salary/Hourly Rate:

$20/hr

Position Overview:

The Temporary Patient Service Representative must be able to work well under pressure and take initiative to problem solve with little supervision. The candidate should have a welcoming demeanor and will support the office manager. The Temporary Patient Service Representative will be responsible for inbound and outbound access patient interactions, scheduling logistics, and will act as a liaison between physicians, patients, and clinical teams.

Responsibilities of the Temporary Patient Service Representative:

  • Assist the manager in maintaining the medical inventory and place orders for new materials as needed.
  • Answer or refer inquiries.
  • Patient intake and check-out procedures.
  • Obtain all appropriate patient consent forms.
  • Schedule patient visits and tests.
  • Collect co-pays and balances.
  • Understand our billing process and insurance process.
  • Verify insurance information, benefits, referrals, and insurance referral information by performing eligibility and benefits.
  • Request Prior-Authorizations.
  • Interface with commercial and federal/state payers to verify patient coverage.
  • Enter patient data into PMS and EMR systems.
  • File medical charts.
  • Maintain a clean and organized reception area.
  • Assist other administrative/clinical staff as needed.
  • Adhere with all practice procedures and protocols.
  • Provide immediate service recovery by taking ownership of any problems that may arise and resolving them utilizing appropriate rationale and understanding of when to alert and involve Office Manager or Front Desk Supervisor.
  • Provide patients with and interpret patient rights and responsibilities.

Required Experience/Skills for the Temporary Patient Service Representative:

  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must be able to work with minimal supervision.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient in MS Office.
  • Previous medical experience required.
  • Commute to other local offices required.
  • 3 years of experience in a medical office setting preferred.
  • Experience utilizing EMR System preferred.

Education Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
