Our client, a well-established nonprofit in Brooklyn, is on the hunt for a sharp and mission-minded Senior Accountant to join their dedicated Finance team. If you are passionate about community impact and love reconciling numbers as much as making a difference, this is the role for you.

Salary/Hourly Rate:

$85k – $95k

Position Overview:

As a Senior Accountant, you will do more than just manage spreadsheets – you will be supporting essential services for Brooklyn’s most vulnerable populations. From journal entries to audit prep, you will help keep operations running smoothly while ensuring every dollar is tracked and put to work. Expect collaboration, ownership, and the opportunity to bring real purpose to your day-to-day numbers game.

Responsibilities of the Senior Accountant:

  • Manage monthly and year-end close, journal entries, and account reconciliations.
  • Record grant and donation revenue; support budgeting and allocations.
  • Reconcile bank accounts and monitor cash activity.
  • Prepare financial reports and audit documentation.
  • Collaborate with development and program teams on grant tracking.

Required Experience/Skills for the Senior Accountant:

  • Nonprofit accounting experience.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP and fund accounting.
  • Proficiency in Excel and accounting systems (FundEZ, Bill.com are a plus).
  • Excellent attention to detail and communication skills.

Preferred Experience/Skills for the Senior Accountant:

  • CPA is preferred but not required.
  • Prior experience with grants, audits, or nonprofit finance systems.

Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting is required.
