Our client is a leading manufacturer delivering high-quality flavor solutions, with a long-standing reputation for excellence in the food and beverage industry. They are looking to add a Flavor Lab Technician to their team.
Salary/Hourly Rate:
$50k – $60k Annually (Based on experience)
Position Overview:
The Flavor Lab Technician will support the Flavor Creation team by preparing and compounding flavors according to established methods and procedures. This role involves hands-on work with various flavor processes, strict adherence to Good Laboratory Practices (GLPs), Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), and HACCP food safety standards.
Responsibilities of the Flavor Lab Technician:
- Compound flavors using established formulas and procedures across processes such as liquid compounding, emulsion preparation, spray drying, powder blending, distillation, and extraction/concentration.
- Operate mixing, blending, filtering, homogenizing, and packaging equipment while maintaining a clean and safe work environment.
- Perform daily compounding activities in support of projects and sample preparation.
- Participate in sensory evaluations, including taste panels and product tastings, to support flavor development and quality assurance.
- Accurately weigh and measure raw materials, document processes, and ensure timely completion of projects.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Applications, Quality Control, and Operations, to communicate project progress and troubleshoot issues.
- Assist in maintaining inventory and lab supplies to support ongoing project needs.
- Support additional laboratory or applications-related tasks as needed.
Required Experience/Skills for the Flavor Lab Technician:
- Ability to work independently and maintain accuracy under tight deadlines.
- Strong problem-solving skills with sound judgment and decision-making abilities.
- Excellent communication skills – both written and verbal.
- Team-oriented with a customer-focused mindset.
- Commitment to working safely and maintaining a clean, compliant environment.
Education Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Food Science or a related field, with 1 – 2 years of experience in flavor/fragrance or related production, is preferred.
