Client Overview:
Our client, a long-standing and family-owned service provider in the plumbing, heating, and fire protection industry, is seeking a detail-oriented AR/Collections Specialist to join their accounting team. With a strong reputation for servicing both residential and commercial clients across the NYC metro area, this is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to build on their receivables experience in a stable and supportive environment.
Salary/Hourly Rate:
$60k – $70k
Position Overview:
The AR/Collections Specialist will be responsible for managing the collections process, contacting customers regarding outstanding balances, posting payments, and maintaining accurate receivables records. The ideal candidate has strong communication skills, a proactive approach, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced office setting.
Responsibilities of the AR/Collections Specialist:
- Manage and own the collections process end-to-end.
- Contact customers regarding overdue invoices and balances.
- Post customer payments accurately and efficiently into QuickBooks.
- Monitor and follow up on aging receivables.
- Maintain accurate records of customer communications and payment status.
- Collaborate with internal departments to resolve payment discrepancies.
- Assist with general administrative and accounting functions as needed.
Required Experience/Skills for the AR/Collections Specialist:
- 1 – 10 years of experience in Accounts Receivable and Collections.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
- Highly organized and detail oriented.
Preferred Experience/Skills for the AR/Collections Specialist:
- Experience with QuickBooks or other accounting software a plus.
Education Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
