Client Overview:

Looking to grow your accounting skills while doing meaningful work? Our client is a mission-driven nonprofit organization dedicated to providing essential services like housing, food access, and counseling to individuals and families in need across New York City. They are seeking an Accounting Clerk to join their Finance team and help support their critical programs through high-impact behind-the-scenes work.

Salary/Hourly Rate:

$20/hr – $23/hr

Position Overview:

As an Accounting Clerk, you will play a key role in keeping things running smoothly. You will be responsible for full-cycle Accounts Payable from matching and coding to processing up to 1,000 invoices per week. This is a great opportunity to build experience in nonprofit finance and contribute to a greater cause.

Responsibilities of the Accounting Clerk:

  • Process high-volume A/P: match, batch, code, and enter invoices.
  • Maintain accurate vendor records and respond to inquiries.
  • Assist with monthly closings and reconciliations.
  • Collaborate with program teams to track and report expenses.
  • Support audit preparation and other finance projects as needed.

Required Experience/Skills for the Accounting Clerk:

  • Minimum 1 year of experience in accounting or finance.
  • Proficiency in A/P processes and invoice management.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
  • Comfortable with high-volume data entry.
  • Solid Excel or Google Sheets experience.
  • Clear communication and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Experience/Skills for the Accounting Clerk:

  • Experience with Sage Intacct (highly preferred but not required).
  • Familiarity with nonprofit or grant-based accounting.

Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is preferred.
  • Relevant experience will be considered.
