Client Overview:
Our client is a well-established private label apparel company specializing in women’s fashion, known for its strong partnerships with leading retailers and commitment to delivering high-quality, trend-right products. The team values collaboration, precision, and creativity across all stages of the design and production process, and is seeking a Freelance Color Coordinator.
Salary/Hourly Rate:
$30/hr – $35/hr
Position Overview:
The Freelance Color Coordinator will play a key role in ensuring color consistency, quality, and alignment across seasonal collections. This temp-to-perm position offers the opportunity to work closely with design, product development, and technical teams to maintain high standards in color development and execution.
Responsibilities of the Freelance Color Coordinator:
- Review and approve lab dips, strike-offs, and yarn dyes for bulk production.
- Maintain seasonal color standards, libraries, and approval cards.
- Ensure color consistency across woven, knit, sweater, and trim categories.
- Record and manage color comments and approvals in PLM or design tracking systems.
- Partner with design and production teams to quickly troubleshoot and resolve color issues.
- Communicate directly with mills and vendors to ensure accuracy and timely approvals.
Required Experience/Skills for the Freelance Color Coordinator:
- Minimum 3 years of experience as a Colorist in fashion or textiles.
- Strong understanding of color theory, fabric structures, and dyeing techniques.
- Proficient in PLM systems and familiar with color management processes.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to judge color differences accurately.
- Strong organizational and communication skills; able to work in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Experience/Skills for the Freelance Color Coordinator:
- Experience working across multiple fabric types and categories.
- Familiarity with print approvals, color matching, and lab dip management.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating cross-functionally.
Education Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Textile Design, Color Science, and Fashion Design is required.
