Client Overview:
Our client is a contemporary brand focusing on women’s, men’s, and accessories. We are seeking a dynamic and talented Freelance Associate Designer to join our client’s team in New York City.
Salary/Hourly Rate:
$30/hr – $33/hr Depending on experience
Position Overview:
This Freelance Associate Designer role requires a creative individual with a keen eye for design, particularly in bottoms, and a solid understanding of the fashion industry. The ideal candidate will have previous PLM (Product Lifecycle Management) experience and 1 – 4 years of professional design experience.
Responsibilities of the Freelance Associate Designer:
- Collaborate with the Design team to create innovative and trend-setting designs for women’s, men’s, and accessories collections.
- Focus on bottom designs, ensuring the creation of high-quality, stylish, and functional pieces.
- Utilize PLM systems to manage and track the development of designs from concept through production.
- Conduct market research and trend analysis to inform design decisions and ensure the brand remains competitive.
- Prepare detailed design sketches, technical drawings, and specifications.
- Participate in fittings and provide constructive feedback to ensure the best fit and quality.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams, including product development, merchandising, and marketing.
- Maintain a strong understanding of the brand’s aesthetic and customer preferences.
Required Experience/Skills for the Freelance Associate Designer:
- 1 – 4 years of experience in fashion design, preferably with a focus on bottoms.
- Proven experience with PLM systems.
- Strong sketching and technical drawing skills.
- Excellent understanding of garment construction, fabric, and trims.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Must be able to work 3 – 4 days a week in the New York City office.
Preferred Experience/Skills for the Freelance Associate Designer:
- Experience in contemporary fashion design.
- Knowledge of current fashion trends and market dynamics.
- Ability to work independently and take initiative.
Education Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design or a related field is required.
