Client Overview:
Our client, a manufacturer with over 50 years in NY, operates within an evolving corporate culture balancing the stability of a well-established organization with the agility and modernization of a forward-thinking business. They are looking to add a Demand Planner to their team. The team currently hiring embodies a culture of collaboration, transparency, and accountability, where employees are encouraged to share ideas, take ownership of their work, and contribute to continuous improvement across operations.
Salary/Hourly Rate:
$35/hr – $40/hr
Position Overview:
The Demand Planner will play a critical role in supporting ongoing planning activities during a period of operational transition. This position focuses on analyzing data, refining forecasts, and ensuring product availability across a diverse portfolio of roughly 10,000 SKUs. The ideal candidate is analytically minded, thrives in a hands-on environment, and enjoys working cross-functionally to solve problems and optimize performance. This role is hybrid, working 3 days a week on site in Plainview, NY. The ideal candidate must be able to work without sponsorship and be locally based in NY. This is a 6-month contract, but the individual could be hired directly.
Responsibilities of the Demand Planner:
- The Demand Planner will generate, update, and validate short- and mid-term demand forecasts using sales trends, historical data, and input from cross-functional teams.
- Leverage Excel (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP, formulas) and Tableau to track forecast accuracy, identify demand shifts, and visualize performance metrics.
- Analyze large data sets to detect trends and propose adjustments that improve forecast precision and inventory balance.
- Support inventory planning for a large and complex product portfolio, ensuring accurate demand signals for replenishment and production.
- Collaborate with the Supply and Logistics teams to minimize stockouts or excess inventory while maintaining service levels.
- Assist in data cleanup and accuracy during product transitions, including new product launches and discontinuations.
- Partner closely with Sales, Operations, and Finance to align forecasts with business priorities and market realities.
- Consolidate and present updates in planning meetings, translating analytical findings into actionable insights.
- Contribute to maintaining an effective S&OP process by providing clear and timely demand inputs.
Required Experience/Skills for the Demand Planner:
- The Demand Planner needs 2 – 6 years of experience in demand planning, forecasting, or supply chain analysis.
- Advanced Excel skills (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP, data modeling).
- Experience utilizing Tableau as well as an ERP system.
- Strong analytical mindset with the ability to interpret complex data sets and communicate insights effectively.
Preferred Experience/Skills for the Demand Planner:
- Experience managing a high number of SKUs would be ideal for the Demand Planner.
- Flexible, resourceful, and eager to contribute in a hands-on role requiring collaboration and adaptability.
- Experience with SAP.
Education Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Finance, or a related field is required.
