Our client is a long-standing regional CPA firm offering tax, audit, and accounting support to a variety of clients and is looking to add a Tax Supervisor to their growing team. The firm is known for its stable environment, strong client relationships, and commitment to professional growth.
Salary/Hourly Rate:
$90k – $120k
Position Overview:
The Tax Supervisor plays a key role in analyzing evolving tax issues and turning complex regulations into clear, practical guidance. This position prepares concise technical memos, offers informed recommendations, and ensures the team understands emerging requirements. This role calls for strong judgment, polished communication, and a focus on meeting client expectations. A successful candidate stays current on economic shifts, political developments, and legislative changes that affect the business landscape. Beyond technical expertise, the Tax Supervisor supports the firm’s standards by leading with integrity and producing accurate, dependable work.
Responsibilities of the Tax Supervisor:
- Lead and mentor team members within the tax department, leveraging broad public accounting experience and supporting their professional development.
- Prepare and review a wide range of individual and business tax returns, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and familiarity with supplemental tax forms.
- Conduct thorough tax research, draft clear technical memorandums, and proactively identify and resolve complex tax issues.
- Communicate with federal, state, and local tax authorities, coordinating documentation and supporting audit-related requests.
- Utilize tax, accounting, and standard office software efficiently to maintain firm standards and deliver high-quality work.
Required Experience/Skills for the Tax Supervisor:
- Significant tax experience in a public accounting environment with supervisory responsibilities.
- Skilled in preparing and reviewing individual and business tax returns.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related discipline.
- Active and valid CPA license.
- Strong technical skills in tax preparation and documentation.
- Knowledgeable in tax law and capable of conducting thorough research.
- Effective leadership and communication abilities.
Preferred Experience/Skills for the Tax Supervisor:
- Experience with additional tax forms beyond the core returns.
- Familiarity with tax software and systems commonly used in the field.
Education Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field.
- CPA license required.
