Atrium is partnering with a restaurant group seeking a Staff Accountant. With multiple locations and concepts, they pride themselves on delivering exceptional dining experiences and are seeking dedicated professionals to help maintain their financial excellence.
Salary/Hourly Rate:
$50k – $60k
Position Overview:
The Staff Accountant will support the financial operations of a multi-unit restaurant group with a strong emphasis on cash management and daily cash audits. This role ensures accuracy in cash handling, reconciliations, and compliance with internal controls, while assisting with month-end close and reporting.
Responsibilities of the Staff Accountant:
- Conduct daily cash audits for all restaurant locations to verify compliance with company policies.
- Reconcile cash deposits, POS reports, and bank activity; investigate and resolve discrepancies promptly.
- Prepare and post journal entries related to cash transactions.
- Monitor and maintain accurate cash flow records; assist with cash forecasting.
- Collaborate with restaurant managers to address cash handling issues and provide guidance on best practices.
- Assist with month-end close, account reconciliations, and financial statement preparation.
- Support internal and external audits by providing documentation and explanations.
- Prepare reports on cash performance and trends for management review.
Required Experience/Skills for the Staff Accountant:
- 2+ years of accounting experience with a focus on cash management.
- Strong understanding of cash handling processes and internal controls.
- Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, etc.).
- Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Experience/Skills for the Staff Accountant:
- Experience in the restaurant or hospitality industry.
- Familiarity with POS systems and multi-unit operations.
- Knowledge of GAAP and month-end close processes.
Education Requirements:
- Associate’s degree is required.
